Saving, Death & Respawn

Progress in Drug Dealer Simulator 2 is stored in a cartel save. You can only save in a safe place, and losing a fight sends you to a medical point, into police arrest or to the work camp depending on who beat you.

Saving

  • You can only save in a place with save functionality: hideouts and bars.
  • In a safe place you can save manually from the pause menu; the game also autosaves periodically while your character is in a safe spot.
  • In multiplayer, all players need to be in a safe place to save.
  • The minimum interval between saves while players are in a hideout is 60 seconds.
  • The pause menu has Save & Backup. Backups are labelled by in-game day, and from the main menu you can load the latest save or one of the backups.
  • The controller makes autosave attempts on a timer and the game mode can block autosaving; the game mode also remembers each player's last position and inventory.
  • A "Can't save the game now" message appears if the game refuses a save, and a separate error appears if the file cannot be written to disk.

Losing all your health

  • A fall from a height, a snake bite or a beating by thugs can take all your health. You then end up at the nearest medical point.
  • A beaten player loses consciousness after 30 seconds. The respawn screen counts down and also offers a "respawn now" option.
  • Medical points are shown on the map with a hospital icon, and a medic character with dialogue exists. At a medical point you can pay medical staff to treat your wounds, or just carry on after respawning. The treatment price is set in dialogue scripts, not in the tables.
  • In co-op, teammates can revive a downed player.

Arrest, raids and the work camp

  • Losing a fight to police ends in arrest and the loss of your carried drugs and weapons.
  • Being caught in a militia raid, or losing a fight to militia, sends you to the work camp, and the drugs in a raided hideout are taken.
  • See Wanted Level, Militia Raids & Arrests for the full sequence and Prison Work Camp for life in the camp.

The tables and in-game hints do not describe any item or cash loss on an ordinary death, and there are no "shelters" apart from hideouts and bars. The medical-point description comes from a hint text that no hint-table row references. Whether dying without being arrested costs anything else is unconfirmed and should be checked in play. The Blueprint that controls respawn is not part of the tables.

Source: game DataTables (BalanceFlagsDatabase, strTable_GameHints, strTable_MainMenu, strTable_ShortNotifications). Values are as stored in the current Steam build; bolivars are written with a leading B.
