Carrying capacity
Your inventory has four kinds of slot: regular slots for the items in your backpack and hands, quick-access slots for tools (such as a crowbar) and consumables (such as bandages), special slots for items like a flashlight, and clothing slots (hat, jewelry, top, backpack, pants, shoes). The inventory screen also shows your stats and the total weight you carry.
| Base value | Amount |
|---|---|
| Regular slots | 3 |
| Grid width (columns) | 5 |
| Concealed (secret) slots | 1 |
Storage is a set of slots laid out in a grid, so total capacity is your base slots plus the slots that your clothing provides. Extra slots come from wearing gear, and the capacity is not a weight limit; weight is a separate rule (see below).
How wearables and bags expand storage
Each garment can add regular slots, quick slots and secret slots. The best shop-bought item per slot type gives:
| Clothing slot | Regular slots per item | Most quick slots | Most secret slots |
|---|---|---|---|
| Backpack | 2 to 18 | 2 | 2 |
| Top | 0 to 6 | 1 | 1 |
| Pants | 1 to 6 | 2 | 1 |
| Shoes | 0 to 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Hat | 0 to 0 | 0 | 0 |
| Jewelry | 0 to 0 | 0 | 0 |
Wearing the best shop-bought item in every slot gives about 30 regular slots from clothing, on top of the 3 base slots (calculated from the current files). The bag slot is the biggest single source. Every bag, its stats and where to buy it are on Clothing & Apparel.
Garments also carry a hidden "slots worn out" value (SLOT-OLD). The game text does not say whether it is the number of slots lost or kept when a garment wears out, so this page does not use it. Container sizes in the container config table do not always match the slot count shown on the garment (for example the pants container config lists 4 slots while the pants item lists 2), and the item value is the one used here.
Weight and over-encumbrance
Item weights are stored in grams and add up in your inventory. The tables document no hard weight cap: instead, weight starts to affect your movement at 21 kg and reaches its maximum effect at 65 kg. Over that range, your stamina use scales from x1 up to x1.6. See Stamina, Health & Rest.
Cash is an item like any other: loose small bolivars weigh 0.005 g per B1 and stack to 200,000 per slot, and large bolivars weigh 0.002 g and stack to 400,000. See Cash, Wealth & Carrying Money.
Special slots
Special slots accept only one type of item. The player has four; the rest belong to hideout furniture and equipment.
| Slot | Accepts item type | Can be stolen |
|---|---|---|
| Flashlight | FLASHLIGHT | No |
| Keychain | KEYCHAIN | No |
| Walkie-talkie | WALKIETALKIE | No |
| Melee weapon | TOOL | No |
| Small lightbulb | LAMP-SMALL | No |
| Large lightbulb | LAMP-LARGE | No |
| Hydroponic elements | HYDROPONICS | No |
| Flower pot | WEED-POT | No |
| Cooking pot | COOKING-POT | No |
| Fan | FAN | No |
| Cabinet upgrade | CABINET-UPGRADE | No |
| Table upgrade | TABLE-UPGRADE | No |
| Desk upgrade | DESK-UPGRADE | No |
The player container config also lists a Wallet special slot, but no obtainable wallet exists: the wallet items are hidden entries with no source. The slot is unfinished or unused.
Storage container sizes
Safes, wardrobes, cabinets, crafters, vehicles and boats each use a container config with a slot count, a grid width and a number of concealed slots. Furniture lists are on Hideout Equipment and vehicle cargo on Vehicles, Boats & Watercraft.

Concealed (secret) slots
Items in concealed slots are harder to find. Your character has 1 to start with, and some clothing adds more; vehicles and boats also have concealed slots. The in-game tooltip says a secret slot significantly reduces the chance that items placed there are found during a robbery or search, so it is never a guarantee. The separate secret backpack slot is different: its items travel with the backpack and will be found. Editors report that hidden-slot items were not found in a police stop but were lost on arrival in jail. See Wanted Level, Militia Raids & Arrests.
